Latonia Baptist is a community of people who are becoming serious about being like Jesus. We have come to understand that loving God is expressed not only in heartfelt worship but also in loving our neighbors.
We have accepted Jesus as the one who saves us and gives eternal life, but our pastor asks us "What is the content of the Jesus we accepted?" If we accept the life of the Jesus we find in the gospels into our own lives, then we will become like him. If we accept Jesus, we believe that he was right about things like the dangers of religion, wealth, self-righteousness, violence, and worry. Becoming a Christian means not only believing that Jesus died for us on the cross and rose again, but also simply believing Jesus. If we believe that he was right about things, of course we will do what he said. When Jesus gave the Great Commission to his followers, he told them to make more followers from every ethnic group--and to teach them to obey everything he taught. We invite you to join us on the journey of discovering the Jesus life, understanding and obeying the one who loved us and gave himself for us.
At Latonia Baptist Church, we welcome all kinds of people, and we are focused on helping you to love God and on making a difference in our neighborhood.
Latonia Baptist Church.
Evangelical. Ecumenical. Egalitarian. Eclectic.
"Evangelical" means that we believe the good news that God acted in Jesus to bring us back to himself, and that we accept the authority of the story of God in the Bible to shape what we believe about God and how we live.
"Ecumenical" means that we see ourselves as part of a larger Body of Christ composed of all Christians, so we love to work with other Christians in ministry and worship.
"Egalitarian" means that we believe that God wants men and women to be equal in every way, including in ministry and leadership in the church.
"Eclectic" means that we draw our worship elements from many periods of history and from a variety of musical styles--and that we are intentional about including all generations in a unified worship experience.
